Jonah Madaris is a low brass performer and educator based in Ringgold, Georgia. A native of the Northwest Georgia area, he maintains an active schedule as a teacher, performer, and clinician throughout the Tennessee Valley. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Chattanooga State Community College and as brass technician for Ridgeland High School.
Jonah holds a Master of Music in Bass Trombone Performance from the University of Georgia, where he studied under Josh Bynum. During his time at UGA, he performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble I. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Jacksonville State University, studying with Casey Thomas. While at JSU, he performed in premier ensembles including the Marching Southerners, Chamber Winds, Jazz Ensemble I, and British Brass Band.
As a performer, Jonah has appeared with regional groups such as the Huntsville Brass Band, Tabernacle Big Band, and Kings of Swing Jazz Orchestra. He is an active freelancer on bass trombone, and regularly performs on tenor trombone and euphonium across a variety of ensemble settings.
Jonah has been teaching privately for over six years, working with students in the Chattanooga, TN, Jacksonville, Alabama and Athens, Georgia areas. He previously served on the trombone faculty at the University of Georgia Community Music School. His students have earned placements in district honor bands across Georgia, Alabama, and California, reflecting his focus on strong fundamentals, adaptability, and practical musicianship.
